The Three Graces

The Three Graces, with Mary Anne Davis and María Patricia Tinajero (since 2015) investigates friendship as a creative medium. The art collective developed a three-years-long project, “Wishes from a Chorus of Pots” as part of an exhibition at Unison Art Center in New Paltz, New York, co-curated by Linda Weintraub and Michael Asbil. We hand-coiled a “chorus of pots” that were filled with plant material and buried for a year in conservation land. We unearthed the pots, and made paper from what remained, which were transformed into messages to the earth that we collected from people across New England and New York and strung up from trees that decomposed over the next year. Our artistic research during the project was built on an ethos of care so that we could manage conflict, engage in collaborative decision-making and consensus-building.
